CRJ formed in 1991 and immediately prided itself on being the area’s friendliest running club. Our main aim is to encourage runners of all abilities to enjoy the sport whether it’s for fun, general fitness or to compete in races.
The club’s focus is road running of all distances and cross country. Our members compete in races locally and nationally.
CRJ take part in the Oxon Road Race Grand Prix and Mota-vation Series in the summer and the Oxford Mail Cross Country League in the winter. These are both team and individual events.
We also do an in-house competition – the CRJ Grand Prix. This consists of selected races mostly from the Oxon Road Race GP, Mota-vations and the Oxford Mail Cross Country League. Prizes are awarded to the overall male and female winners as well age category winners.
The club’s annual European Tour is a good excuse to travel further afield and take part in a race that hopefully no one from the club has ran before. Recently we’ve been to Charmouth, Warksworth and Poole – we talk about European in a very loose sense of the word! Sometimes we make a weekend of it, racing a tough run on the Saturday and recovering (and celebrating!) overnight at a nearby caravan park. Everyone thoroughly enjoys themselves and we are already planning where to go this year and considering another weekend away.
CRJ is registered with England Athletics.
